During a Fireside Chat Session held on the fringes of the Pioneer Biofuels 360 Summit today, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Shri Hardeep Singh Puri declared that "India's ethanol journey is unstoppable."
When asked if the Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) initiative was successful, the Minister pointed out that it wasn't until Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office in 2014 that ethanol blending really took off. Ethanol mixing was only 1.53% in 2014. Five months ahead of time, India reached 10% blending by 2022. By 2025, the initial goal of 20% blending (E20) by 2030 has already been met during the current Ethanol Supply Year (ESY).
